Aareal Bank has successfully placed a EUR 300 million Green Senior Non-Preferred Bond (SNP) with a five-year maturity.
The transaction attracted strong investor demand, with the order book exceeding EUR 1.55 billion and surpassing the issued volume by more than five times. The strong level of demand enabled a significant improvement in pricing during the bookbuilding process.
This issuance builds on Aareal Bank’s established Green Bond track record and follows the Bank’s inaugural Green Covered Bond, which was successfully issued in May.
An amount equal to the net proceeds of the issuance will be used to finance or refinance environmentally sustainable properties and energy efficiency measures that support the transition to a low-carbon economy. The transaction was issued under Aareal Bank’s Green Finance Framework – Liabilities dated October 2023. The framework is aligned with the ICMA Green Bond Principles and was subjected to a second party opinion by Morningstar Sustainalytics which categorized it as "credible and impactful".
In addition, Aareal Bank recently published its 2025 Allocation and Impact Report. The report includes a post-issuance review by Sustainable Fitch as well as a detailed impact assessment carried out together with Drees & Sommer.
With the successful placement, Aareal Bank further strengthens its sustainable funding base and continues to advance its Green Finance activities.
