All units located in the capital united under one roof
Berlin, 18 January 2008 - Aareal Bank Group today welcomed more than 200 clients and business partners to celebrate the official opening of the new premises for its Berlin business units, located at the historical "Spindlers Hof" development. All of the Group's units, which were previously spread across the capital, have now been united at the Wallstrasse premises. Using more than 7,500 square metres of office space for around 160 staff, Aareal Bank Group is the largest tenant in the building located close to the river Spree.
"Moving into the new Group offices in Berlin, we have brought together our various activities in our Structured Property Financing and Consulting/Services segments", said Thomas Ortmanns, member of Aareal Bank AG's Management Board, in his welcome address. "This is a clear sign - also outside the Group - that both segments are integral to the Group's business model."
A listed building today, "Spindlers Hof" looks back on an eventful history. Its name is a reminiscence to Wilhelm Spindler, who introduced dry cleaning in Germany. Spindler bought the land at Wallstrasse in 1841, to build a dyeing mill and laundry. At the turn of the 20th century, his sons started building today's commercial building. Spindler is also renowned for having initiated the construction of Berlin's first housing estate for workers.
Mr Ortmanns added that the bank found "the property also interesting thanks to its history. As a pioneer in business, Wilhelm Spindler demonstrated the courage to innovate, combining business success with social responsibility. As a tenant, Aareal Bank is committed to maintaining this tradition."
