- Aareal Bank's extraordinary company car raffled off for a charitable cause at the "Deutsche Immobilienball"
Wiesbaden, 30. November 2009 - Aareal Bank raffled off its most extraordinary company car to date, a lovingly restored Aareal-blue Citroën 2CV, at last weekend's "Deutsche Immobilienball" (Ball for the property industry) in Wiesbaden. The proceeds of the charity event with the blue "Aareal-Ente" as first price made up for € 22,600 and goes to the charitable organisation "Tour der Hoffnung" (Tour of Hope). Klaus-Peter Thaler, multiple cyclo-cross world champion and ambassador of the tour, was the lucky winner. He plans to give the eye-catching car away for the next charity campaign in order to collect more donations with it. Since more than 25 years now, like-minded people, among them numerous celebrities, climb their bicycles and tackle a five day tour over 300 km across Germany in favour of children and teenagers who suffer from cancer and leukaemia.
The blue "Aareal-Ente", a 1988 model, had been extensively restored by Aareal Bank for the 2009 property fair MIPIM in Cannes. Since then, the car has served as "company car" for Aareal Bank and the German professional magazine "Immobilien Manager". Numerous personalities from the property industry enjoyed the very unique charm of this eye-catching vehicle during interview rides with the Immobilien Manager. "This simple, robust vehicle has accompanied us at Aareal Bank very closely during the last few months", explained Dr Wolf Schumacher on the occasion of turning over the car to the winner. "And it always reminded us of how important values such as groundedness and dependability are, especially in times of crises."
